Aaron Wilson reports that the Redskins brought in four players for workouts on Tuesday, including LBs Ray-Ray Armstrong and Reshard Cliett.
The full list of tryouts includes:
- LB Ray-Ray Armstrong
- LB Reshard Cliett
- LB Davin Bellamy
- LB Te’Von Coney
Armstrong, 28, originally signed on with the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Miami back in 2013. He lasted just over a year with the Rams before he was waived and later claimed by the Raiders in 2014 but was waived and quickly claimed by the 49ers.
After three years in San Francisco, Armstrong was waived and claimed by the Giants in November of last year. Unfortunately, the Giants placed him on injured reserve and was cut back in October.
The Browns signed him shortly after he cleared waivers and re-signed him to a one-year extension this offseason. However, Cleveland elected to cut him as they trimmed down to the 53-man limit.
In 2018, Armstrong appeared in six games for the Giants and nine games for the Browns, recording 23 total tackles and no sacks or interceptions.
Cliett, 27, is a former sixth-round pick by the Texans out of South Florida in the 2015 NFL Draft. The Texans elected to waive him after one season and signed on with the Broncos’ practice squad in September of 2016 but got cut after a month.
He bounced on and off the Jets and Cardinals’ practice squads before signing a futures contract with the Titans, which waived him with an injury designation in August 2017.
The Vikings signed him as a free agent in March of last year but was among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason. The Vikings re-signed him to a futures deal but got waived, once again, as they trimmed down to the 53-man limit.
He has yet to appear in an NFL game.
