Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Cincinnati Bengals expect WR Marvin Jones to return from weekend foot surgery on October 5th, against the New England Patriots.
Jones – Cincinnati’s number 2 receiver – broke his foot during practice on Saturday.
The Bengals expected the third-year wideout to build on his breakout second season, in which he caught 51 passes, for 712 yards and ten touchdowns.
This news is relatively positive however, as the Bengals could have elected to place Jones on the PUP list or IR, alternatives that would have seen Jones miss at least the first six games. ย With Cincinnati’s bye coming in week 4, Jones should only miss three games.
In his absence, WR Brandon Tate and WR Mohamed Sanu will likely see an increase in targets.
