Broncos Sign C/G Ryan Lilja

Update:

Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that the Broncos have reached an agreement with former Chiefs G/C Ryan Lilja on a one-year deal.

Lilja, 32, reportedly considered the idea of unretiring and playing for the Chiefs earlier this season, but nothing ever came from the idea. Lilja had been dealing toe and knee injuries, but he’s had enough time to recover.

The Broncos have already lost two centers for the season, so they could really use a solid option in the middle of their offensive line. Manny Ramirez was taking snaps with the first-team offense in recent days, but there’s no question that Lilja would be a solid upgrade.

He spent a number of seasons with Peyton Manning in Indianapolis, which should help his chances of getting assimilated with the Broncos’ offensive scheme.
