Report: Cody Parkey Beats Out Alex Henery For Eagles’ Kicking Job

 

Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com, citingย two individuals with knowledge of the situation, reports that rookieย Cody Parkey has beaten out former fourth-round pickย Alex Henery for the Eagles’ kicking job.

Parkey, 22, came over in a trade with the Colts that sentย RBย David Fluellenย to Indianapolis. He’s anย undrafted free agent out of Auburn.ย During his four years at Auburn, Parkey converted 24 of 32 field goal attempts (75 percent) and scored a total of 140 points.

Henery, 27, convertedย 1 of 3 field goal attempts this preseason. Last year,ย Henery was successful on 82.1 percent of his field goal attempts and made one of two tries from at least 50 yards.

He’s entering the final year of his rookie contractย and has a base salary ofย $645,000 for the upcoming season.
