According to Manish Mehta, Jets LB Avery Williamson is available for trade as well as DE Henry Anderson.
Williamson missed the entire 2019 season after tearing his ACL last preseason. He’d been speculated as a potential cap casualty this offseason, so it makes sense for the Jets to see what they can get for him.
As for Anderson, the Jets just re-signed him to a three-year deal worth up to $33 million last year. However, he battled injuries and had just one sack in 13 games.
According to Over The Cap, New York would gain $6.5 million in cap space with $2 million in dead money by trading Williamson. Moving Anderson would incur $2.667 million in dead money and creat $5.667 million in space.
Williamson, 28, is a former fifth-round pick of the Titans back in 2014. He played out his rookie contract with Tennessee before agreeing to a three-year, $22.5 million contract that includes $16 million guaranteed with the Jets.
Williamson is set to make a base salary of $6.5 million for the 2020 season.
In 2018, Williamson appeared in all 16 games for the Jets and recorded 120 tackles, three sacks, an interception, two forced fumbles and six pass defenses.
Anderson, 28, is a former third-round pick of the Colts back in 2015. He was later traded to the Jets for a seventh-round pick.
Anderson played out the final year of his four-year, $2,937,176 rookie contract and re-signed with New York on a three-year deal worth up to $33 million. He’s set to make a base salary of $7 million in 2020.
In 2019, Anderson appeared in 13 games for the Jets and recorded 25 tackles and one sack. Pro Football Focus graded Anderson as the No. 94 edge defender out of 106 qualifying players.
