Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer, citing a league source,ย reports that theย Panthers have reached an agreement on a one-year contract with DT Colin Cole.
- Person previously reported that the Panthers were in talks with Cole.
Cole, 33, wound up starting 13 games for the Panthers last season, but was relegated to playing a limited role for Carolina. According to Pro Football Focus, Cole was the No. 61 defensive tackle out of 69 qualifying players last year and struggled in both run and pass defense.
The Panthers paid him theย veteran minimumย salary of $840,000 last season, so it appears unlikely that he would make much more than this if they were able to reach an agreement.
In 2013, Cole totaledย 15 tackles and a sack over the course of 15 games.
