Connor Hughes of the Athletic reports the Raiders “love” Houston DL Ed Oliver and says he’s “worth keeping an eye on” for Oakland at No. 4 overall.
Depending on how things go with the first three picks, the Raiders should be in position to secure one of the defensive line prospects including Quinnen Williams, Josh Allen or Oliver.
It’s worth mentioning that Oliver has drawn comparisons to Bengals DT Geno Atkins, who played for Raiders DC Paul Guenther while they were together in Cincinnati, so there would be an obvious scheme fit here.
Oliver reportedly visited with several teams including the Ravens, Chargers, Cardinals, Titans, Buccaneers, Raiders, Giants, Falcons, Saints, Jets, Eagles and Bills.
Oliver, 21, is a really intriguing prospect, who has tested well throughout the draft process. There’s even been talk about some teams wanting him to play linebacker at the next level.
During his three-year college career at Houston, Oliver recorded 192 tackles, 53 tackles for a loss, 13.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, a recovery and 11 pass defenses over the course of 32 games.
