Report: Texas Tech TE Jace Amaro Working Out For The Falcons

ESPN’s Adam Caplan reports that Texas Tech TE Jace Amaro is working out for the Atlanta Falcons on Wednesday.

  • Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reported Tuesday that the Jets are “intrigued” by Amaro.
  • According to Mehta, Amaro is scheduled to visit the Jets in the next few weeks.
  • Mehta notes that GM John Idzik attended his Pro Day and believes Amaro could be a potential target for the Jets in the second round.

Amaro’s name has come up as being a potential first-round pick, so there is no guarantee the Jets would have a shot at him in the second round, especially with teams like the Patriots drafting in the latter portion of round one.

As for the Falcons, they could clearly use a successor to Tony Gonzalez and will likely consider all of the available tight ends in this year’s draft class, at least to some degree.

Some evaluators have mentioned that Amaro is a better tight end than the consensus top player at the position, UNC’s Eric Ebron. It will be interesting to hear the buzz surrounding him in the coming weeks as numerous teams are in need of tight end help.
