Jim Wyattย of the Tennessean reports that the Titans have reached an agreement on a new contract with RB Jackie Battle.
- Wyatt adds that it Battle is expected to receive a one-year deal.
Titans new HC Ken Whisenhunt recently mentioned that he likes what he’s seen out of RB Shonn Greene and the fact that they’ll be bringing Battle back for another season, could be an indication that they are prepared to move on from Chris Johnson and look for another cheaper option at running back in either the draft or free agency.
That’s admittedly speculation on my part, but Wyatt reported that although the two sides met at the Combine, Johnson’s status with the team remains “unchanged.”
Battle, 30, signed a one-year deal with the Titans last May and appeared in all 16 games last season. He totaledย 142 yards rushing on 36 carries (3.9) and one touchdown in 2013. Battle also contributed to special teams last season, which likely helped his chances of being back.
