According to Tom Pelissero, free agent CBย Richard Sherman has scheduled a visit with the Lions once his meeting with the 49ers has concluded.
- Josina Anderson reports that Sherman has yet to schedule a date to meet with the Lions. However, she admits that this doesn’t mean he won’t meet with the Lions, but there’s still plenty of interest from other teams. Sherman toldย Josina Anderson thatย he has also received preliminary interest from the Titans, Raiders, Texans, Bucs and Packers.
Reports from earlier in the day mentioned that it’s possible the 49ers and Sherman could try to get a contract done today, depending on how things checked out with Achilles. Although, it appears Sherman is prepared to take other visits with prospective teams.
Thank you to everyone for the kind words. This is just another chapter in the journey. This will be an ongoing process and I am excited to take on this challenge. To the fans urging me to join your team, I am humbled but I can only look at the teams that have reached out.

After being released by the Seahawks, reports said that Sherman isn’t ruling out a return to Seattle. However, it’s rare for someone to test the open market and then ultimately re-sign with the team who cut him.
It’s worth mentioning that signing Sherman to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.
Sherman, 29, is a former fifth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2011. He was entering the final of his five-year, $58.789 million contract that includes $40 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $11 million for the 2018 season when the Seahawks released him in a move that freed up $11 millionย of available cap space.
In 2017, Sherman appeared in nine games and recorded 35 tackles, two interceptions and seven pass defenses for the Seahawks.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 33 cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.
