Robbie Gould Won’t Sign Long-Term Deal With 49ers, Wants To Be Traded

Adam Schefter reports that 49ers franchise K Robbie Gould has pulled his contract proposals that he sent to San Francisco and told the team he will not negotiate or sign a long-term deal with them.

According to Schefter, Gould would like to be traded.

Gould indicated that he has gotten tired of 14 months of futile contract negotiations and wants to be closer to his wife and children in Chicago, writes Schefter.

“The bottom line is, I’m unsure if I want to play there anymore,” Gould tells ESPN. “At this point, I have to do what’s best for me and my family back home.

The situation between the 49ers and Gould has been pretty strange since San Francisco used their franchise tag on him.

Gould previously mentioned that he’d have interest in returning to the Bears and the 49ers later showed some interest in Stephen Gostkowski before he returned to the Patriots.

Gould, 36, originally signed on with the Patriots back in 2005 as an undrafted free agent, but he lasted just a few months in New England before joining the Ravens briefly and later joining the Bears.

Gould was in the fourth year of his five-year, $17.925 million contract when he was released by the Bears at the start of the 2016 season. He later signed a one-year deal with the Giants.

The 49ers brought Gould in on a two-year, $4 million contract in 2017. He’s in line to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

In 2018, Gould appeared in all 16 games for the 49ers and converted 33 of 34 field goal attempts (97.1 percent) to go along with 27 of 29 extra point tries (93.1 percent).
