Romeo Crennel’s first game as the Chiefs interim head coach was pretty memorable to say the least. Kansas City would up beating the undefeated Super Bowl champs is pretty convincing fashion.
This one win alone isn’t enough to guarantee him the job but it’s certainly makes him the early favorite as the team played inspired football on Sunday.
“Everyone in this game has an ego,” Crennel told Peter King ofย Sports Illustrated. “I have one too. I’d like to have another opportunity to prove I can do this job. I had one in Cleveland and we won 10 games one year, then got hit hard with injuries the next year. Scott knows me, and that helps. But he knows me as an assistant, not as a head coach. Now he’s got to see me as a head coach.”
Sounds like Crennel has focused narrowed to doing whatever he can to win the head coaching job. KC will finish out the season against two division foes with aย home game against theย Oakland Raidersย followed by a road game against theย Denver Broncos. There’s a chance that Chiefs could end up in the playoffs but that will require a lot of help at this point.
