The New Orleans Saints officially ruled out WR Michael Thomas for Monday night’s game against the Raiders due to a high-ankle sprain.
Reports from earlier in the week mentioned that Thomas was expected to miss “several” weeks with the ankle injury. However, some later pumped the breaks on this timeline.
Even so, Thomas did not practice this week and his Week 3 status will be questionable at best.
Thomas sustained the injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s win over the Buccaneers after he was rolled up on a bit.
Thomas, 27, was drafted by the Saints in the second round out of Ohio State in 2016. He was entering the final year of a four-year, $5.118 million rookie contract when he agreed to a five-year, $100 million extension last July.
In 2020, Thomas has appeared in one game for the Saints and caught three passes for 17 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
