The New Orleans Saints officially placed DT Sheldon Rankins on the active/PUP list on Tuesday.
Rankins will still count against the team’s 90-man limit and can be activated at any time.
Rankins, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Saints back in 2016. He’s entering the final year of his four-year, $12.8 million contract when the Saints picked up his fifth-year option this past April.
Rankins will make a base salary of $2.19 million for the 2019 season.
In 2018, Rankins appeared in all 16 games for the Saints and recorded 40 tackles, eight sacks, a forced fumble and a pass defense.
