Saints Release Veteran FB John Kuhn & DE Darryl Tapp

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Saints have released veteran FB John Kuhn on Sunday.

  • Mike Triplett reports that the Saints are also releasing DE Darryl Tapp.

Kuhn, 34, originally signed on with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of Shippensburg back in 2005. He’s spent nine of his 10 years in the NFL with the Packers before he signed a one-year, $985,000 contract with the Saints back in August of last year.

In 2016, Kuhn appeared in all 16 games for the Saints and rushed for 37 yards on 18 carries (2.1 YPC) to go along with 16 receptions for 70 yards receiving and five touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 9 fullback out of 17 qualifying players.
