Kristian Garic reports that the Saints are placing TE Michael Egnew on waivers Monday.
New Orleans signed Egnew to a contract a week ago, but it appears as though he was contingency option to veteran TE Alex Smith, who was re-signed a few days ago.
Egnew, 25, is a former third-round pick of the Dolphins who has yet to live up to his draft status. Prior to his arrival in Pittsburgh, Egnew spent two years in Miami, was claimed by the Lions in 2014 and cut a week after, to later land on the Jaguars practice squad.
In his last season of activity on 2013, Egnew appeared in 15 games for Miami and caught seven passes for 69 yards and no touchdowns.
