Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that barring a setback in practice, Sam Darnold will return as the Jets starting quarterback for their Week 7 game against the Bills.
Jets HC Adam Gase has already confirmed that Darnold is trending in the right direction and is expected to play on Sunday barring a setback, per Brian Costello.
Darnold missed the last two games after suffering a shoulder injury.
Joe Flacco handled the starting job while Darnold was out.
Darnold, 23, is a former first-round pick of the Jets back in 2018. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $30,370,490 contract with the Jets that included a $20,167,628 signing bonus.
The contract will also include a fifth-year option for the Jets to pick up in 2021.
In 2020, Darnold has appeared in four games for the Jets and completed 59.4 percent of his passes for 792 yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions. He has also rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown.
