Seahawks Also Releasing CB Jeremy Lane

Adam Schefter reports that the Seahawks are also releasing CB Jeremy Lane on Friday along with Richard Sherman.

Bob Condotta first mentioned that Lane was likely to be released, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

Leading up to the trade deadline last year, Lane was actually traded to the Texans as part of the Duane Brown deal. However, Lane failed his physical with the Texans, which led to the two teams revising their deal.

Back in January, Lane was arrested for DUI in Washington and later released on $1,000 bail.

Lane, 27, is a former sixth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2012. He’s entering the third year of his four-year, $23 million contract that included $11 million guaranteed and stands to make base salaries of $6 million over the final two years of the agreement.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Lane would free up $4.75 million of available cap space while creating $2.5 million in dead money.

In 2017, Lane appeared in 13 games and recorded 31 tackles to go along with no interceptions or pass defenses for the Seahawks.
