Seahawks Releasing DT Tom Johnson, Likely To Re-Sign Him Next Week

According to Tom Pelissero, the Seahawks are releasing veteran DT Tom Johnson on Saturday, as they need a roster spot for another position.

Johnson’s 2018 salary is already guaranteed and the Seahawks reportedly plan to re-sign him next week.

Johnson, 34, originally signed on with the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of Southern Miss back in 2006. He lasted just over a year with the Colts before eventually catching on with the Saints in 2011.

After three years in New Orleans, Johnson signed a one-year deal with the Vikings. The Seahawks signed Johnson to a one-year, $2.1 million contract this past March.

In 2018, Johnson has appeared in one game and recorded one tackle and no sacks.
