The Pittsburgh Steelers officially placed DT Lavon Hooks on injured reserve after clearing waivers on Friday.
Hooks suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in practice this week, so this move was expected.
Hooks, 27, originally signed on with the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Ole Miss back in 2015. He lasted just a few months in Green Bay before he was waived during the preseason.
Hooks later signed on with the Steelers the following year and has returned to the team on futures contracts each of the past three seasons. Pittsburgh waived him with an injury designation on Thursday.
During his two years at Ole Miss, Hooks recorded 27 tackles and three sacks over the course of 15 games.
