Steelers Place G Stefen Wisniewski On IR, Promote OT Derwin Gray

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Friday that they’ve placed G Stefen Wisniewski on injured reserve and promoted OT Derwin Gray to their active roster.

It’s worth mentioning that the NFL changed the rules regarding injured reserve for the 2020 season and players can return from the list in just three weeks.

Wisniewski, 31, is a former second-round pick by the Raiders back in the 2011 NFL Draft out of Penn State. He finished out his rookie contract and signed a one-year deal with the Jaguars in 2015.

After finishing his deal in Jacksonville, Wisniewski signed a one-year deal with the Eagles and returned to Philadelphia on a three-year, $9 million extension. Philadelphia later declined his team-option for 2019 before re-signing him to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.

From there, the Eagles cut Wisniewski loose and he eventually signed on with the Chiefs for the 2019 season. The Steelers added him on a two-year contract this past March.

In 2019, Wisniewski appeared in all 11 games for the Chiefs, making two starts. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 16 guard out of 80 qualifying players.
