Steelers Release LB Anthony Chickillo

Adam Schefter reports that the Steelers have released linebacker Anthony Chickillo on Monday.

Chickillo, 27, is a former sixth-round pick of the Steelers back in 2015. He was waived at the start of the 2015 season and later signed to the team’s practice squad.

From there, Chickillo was promoted to the Steelers’ active roster a few weeks into the 2015 season. Chickillo signed a two-year, $8 million extension with the Steelers last year.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Chickillo will free up $5 million of available cap space while creating $1,097,500 in dead money.

In 2019, Chickillo appeared in 11 games for the Steelers and recorded 15 tackles and a half sack.
