The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Tuesday that they’ve signed OLB Jayrone Elliott to their active roster and added QB Devlin Hodges to their practice squad.
Hereโs the Steelers updated practice squad:
- S Marcus Allen
- RB Trey Edmunds
- OL Derwin Gray
- WR Tevin Jones
- S Trevon Mathis
- DL Henry Mondeaux
- OL Patrick Morris
- TE Kevin Rader
- TE Christian Scotland-Williamson (International)
- LB Robert Spillane
- QB Devlin Hodges
Elliott, 27, wound up signing on with the Packers as an undrafted free agent out Toledo back in 2014. He played out the final year of his three-year, $1,535,000 rookie contract with the Packers but did not receive a restricted offer from the team.
The Packers re-signed Elliott in 2017 before trading him to the Cowboys at the start of the regular season. Dallas elected to cut Elliott loose after a few weeks and later had a brief stint with the Saints.
Elliott played for the San Antonio Commanders and led the now-defunct AAF in sacks, which earned him a shot with the Dolphins in April. Miami waived Elliott in July and he signed on with the Steelers in a month later. Unfortunately was among their final roster cuts.
In 2016, Elliott appeared in 11 games for the Packers and recorded 19 tackles and sack.
Hodges, 23, wound up going undrafted out of Samford back in April. He later agreed to a three-year, $1.755 million contract with the Steelers.
The Steelers waived Hodges coming out of the preseason.
During his college career at Samford, Hodges threw for 14,584 yards while completing 69.1 percent off of his passes to go along with 111 touchdowns and 41 interceptions over the course of 45 games. He also rushed for 1,017 yards and 17 touchdowns.
