Steelers Work Out Four Players

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Pittsburgh Steelers recently held workouts for a group of four free agents.

The group of players included:

1. S Rashaan Gaulden
2. LB Jermaine Grace
3. WR Ray-Ray McCloud
4. WR DeAndrew White

Gaulden, 25, was drafted in the third round by the Panthers out of Tennessee in 2018. He was in the second year of a four-year, $3.44 million deal and was set to make a base salary of $595,250 for the 2019 season when the Panthers waived him. He then signed on with the Giants practice squad and was later promoted to the active roster before being waived in August of 2020.

In 2019, Gaulden appeared in nine games for the Panthers and recorded three total tackles. He also appeared in one game with the Giants.

Grace, 26, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Miami back in 2017. Atlanta elected to cut him loose in November and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Colts.

After brief stints with the Browns and Seahawks, Grace signed on with the Falcons late last year. He returned to Atlanta on a futures contract but was waived. He then had short stints with the Browns’ and the Seahawks’ practice squads, marking his second appearance with both teams.

In 2019, Grace appeared in 12 games for the Falcons and recorded six tackles and no sacks.

McCloud, 23, is a former sixth-round pick of the Bills back in 2018. He was in the second year of his four-year, $2.6 million contract when he was waived by the Bills coming out of the preseason.

The Panthers claimed McCloud off of waivers soon after before waiving him in October. McCloud returned to the Bills’ practice squad a few days later and was re-signed to a futures deal this offseason, however, he was later waived by the team.

In 2019, McCloud appeared in six games for the Panthers and totaled 174 kick return yards and 82 punt return yards.
