The Pittsburgh Steelers announced thatย WR Darrius Heyward-Bey sustained a right foot/ankle injury during Sunday’s game against the Ravens and will not return.
The Steelers promoted Heyward-Bey to the starting lineup ahead of Markus Wheaton earlier in the week.
Heyward-Bey, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Raiders back in 2009. He’s currently in the first year of his three-year, $3.8 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $1 million for the 2016 season.
Entering today’s game, Heyward-Bey had caught five passes for 68 yards receiving and two touchdowns for the Steelers over the course of seven games. He also ran for 60 yards and a touchdown on a single carry.
We’ll have more regarding Heyward-Bey’s injury as the news is available.
