Steelers WR Dez Stewart Reverts To I.R. After Clearing Waivers

The Pittsburgh Steelers officially placed Dez Stewart on injured reserve after he passed through waivers unclaimed on Monday.

  • The Steelers also signed DE Francis Kallon, LB Keith Kelsey and OT Jake Rodgers to contracts.

Stewart, 24, wound up going undrafted out of Ohio Dominican back in May of last year but later signed on with the Buccaneers before being waived with an injury designation after just a few weeks.

After clearing waivers, he reverted to the Buccaneers’ injured reserve but was cut loose a month later. He had a brief stint with the Redskins and later signed on to the Packers’ practice squad last season.

The Steelers later signed him to a contract before waiving him with an injury designation last week.

Stewart has yet to appear in an NFL game.

During his four-year college career, Stewart totaled 196 receptions for 3,197 yards receiving (16.3 YPR) and 25 touchdowns. He also contributed 416 kick return yards and 171 punt return yards to go along with one return touchdown.
