Bills free agent CB Stephon Gilmore tells Conor Orr of NFL.com that he’s already spoken to new Bills HC Sean McDermott and DC Leslie Frazier since they were hired in recent weeks.
However, he’s still unsure about his future with the team.
“I talked to him on the phone, then I got a call from (new Bills defensive coordinator) Leslie Frazier, those guys called me,” Gilmore said. “It’s all up to them.
“They seem like they’re going to turn it around out there but, like I said, I don’t know what’s going to happen. They got a decision to make.”
Gilmore added that he’s looking to sign with whichever team really wants him.
“No hopes,” Gilmore said when asked where he wants to go. “Whatever happens is going to happen. But I want to be wanted wherever I go.
“I put it in God’s hands. If it’s somewhere else, it is what it is.”
Gilmore, 26, was taken with the No. 10 overall pick by the Bills back in 2012. He played out his rookie contract, but the Bills elected to pick up his fifth-year option for the 2016 season which paid him a guaranteed salary of $11 million.
In 2016,ย Gilmore appeared in 15 games and recorded 48 tackles, five interceptions, and 12 pass defenses for the Bills.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 61 cornerbackย out of 112 qualifying players.
We have him featured in ourย Top 100 – 2017 Free Agents list.
