Rams running back Steven Jackson hinted Thursday that he will consider retirement following this season, per the Associated Press.
“If I have to write my story,” Jackson said Thursday, via the Associated Press. “I’d rather go out like Barry Sanders and leaving people to want more than to leave too late.”
So far on the year, Jackson has rushed for 990 yards and four touchdowns on 246 carries. 10 more yards Sunday against the Seahawks would give Jackson his eighth-consecutive 1,000 yard-season.
Jackson can opt out of his contract after this season and become a free agent. The 29-year old has made it known that he would like to retire with the Rams. Jackson mentioned that he will take time this offseason to reflect on the things he’s accomplished in his career, along with this season.
If Jackson decides to continue playing next season, we have him ranked 14 on our list of top 50 2013 free agents.
