According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, the Texans have Bills free agent CBย E.J. Gaines on their radar as a potential addition.
Wilson adds that Gainesย should do “very well” in free agency after a solid season with the Bills.
The Texans have also been linked to Patriots free agent CB Malcolm Butler as they look to restock their secondary this offseason.
Gaines, 26, is a former sixth-round pick of the Rams back in 2014. The Rams traded him to the Bills last August as part of the Sammy Watkins deal.
Gaines played out the final year of his four-year, $2,327,672 contract and made a base salary of $690,000 for the 2017 season and is now in line to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
In 2017, Gaines appeared in 11 games for the Bills and recorded 59 tackles, one interception, three forced fumbles and nine pass defenses.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 13 cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.
