According to Jason La Canfora, the Texans are expected to interview former Chiefs and Browns GM John Dorsey for their general manager opening.
The Texans are using the search firm Korn Ferry to help guide their general manager search. La Canfora points out firm headhunter Jed Hughes has already led two searches that have ended with Dorsey being hired.
Despite neither of those stints ending well, Hughes remains in Dorsey’s corner and is recommending him for a third chance in Houston.
Dorsey is expected to draw significant interest as a GM candidate this cycle. He also could bring Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy with him as head coach, who Texans QB Deshaun Watson is a fan of and has recommended as a candidate.
Dorsey, 60, was hired as the Chiefs GM back in 2013 and paired with HC Andy Reid. However, the Chiefs somewhat surprisingly fired Dorsey in 2017.
The Browns hired Dorsey as their GM going into the 2018 season, replacing Sashi Brown. But Dorsey was once again fired after just two seasons
During his time as a GM, Dorsey’s teams have a record of 56-43-1 (.560) and three playoff appearances.
We’ll have more on the Texans general manager search as the news is available.
