Texans Promoting DL Brandon Dunn To Active Roster, Placing Two On I.R.

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Texans are placing OLB Brennan Scarlett and S K.J. Dillon on injured reserve and promoting DL Brandon Dunn to their active roster.

  • The Texans are also signing S Don Jones to a contract.
  • Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reported that Texans sign CB Denzel Rice to their practice squad following successful tryout Wednesday.

Dunn, 24, signed on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of back in May of last year. He spent most of his time with the Bears on and off of their practice squad before the Texans signed him to their active roster.

Dunn was unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but was later signed to their practice squad. The Texans promoted to their active roster last week before placing him on waivers a few days ago.

In 2015, Dunn appeared in 12 games for the Texans and recorded nine tackles and no sacks.

Dillon, 22, was taken in the fifth round of this year’s draft. He’s signed a four-year, $2.798 million contract that includes a base salary of $450,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2016, Dillon appeared in five games and recorded five tackles and no interceptions for the Texans.

Rice, 23, wound up signing on with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Coastal Carolina back in May of last year. He managed to make a 53-man roster coming out of the preseason during his rookie year but was unfortunately cut loose coming out of the preseason a few months ago.

In 2015, Rice appeared in four games for the Eagles but did not record a statistic.
