Texans Place WR Bruce Ellington & LB Dylan Cole On IR, Promote OT David Sharpe

The Houston Texans announced Tuesday that they’ve promoted OT David Sharpe to their active roster and placed WR Bruce Ellington and LB Dylan Cole on injured reserve.

  • Texans signed WR Malachi Dupre to their practice squad.

The Texans’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. OLB Davin Bellamy
  2. CB Andre Chachere
  3. C/G Kyle Fuller
  4. TE Matt Lengel
  5. G/T Chad Slade
  6. WR Jester Weah
  7. DB Breon Borders
  8. S Mike Tyson
  9. WR Isaac Whitney
  10. WR Malachi Dupre

Ellington, 27, is a former fourth-round pick of the 49ers back in 2014. He was in the final year of his four-year, $2.694 million rookie contract when he was waived by San Francisco and claimed by the Jets.

Unfortunately, Ellington missed the entire 2016 season after he suffered a torn hamstring during the preseason and was later placed on injured reserve.

The Texans signed Ellington back in August of last year and placed him on injured reserve in December with another hamstring injury. Ellington did, however, return to Houston on another one-year contract this past March.

In 2018, Ellington appeared in three games and recorded eight receptions for 92 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Sharpe, 22, is a former fourth-round pick of the Raiders back in 2017. He was in the second year of his four-year, $2.98 million contract when the Raiders waived him coming out of the preseason.

The Texans later signed Sharpe to their practice squad.

In 2017, Sharpe appeared in five games for the Raiders.
