Texans Sign RBs Ronnie Brown & William Powell

The Texans signed RB William Powell to a two-year contract, according to ESPN’s Josina Anderson.

Meanwhile, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Texans have also signed RB Ronnie Brown to a contract as well.

Both Brown and Powell was among the three veteran running backs who worked out for the Texans on Monday.

Brown, 32, has found limited interest as a free agent this year, but he did have a tryout for the Patriots back in May.

Brown signed with the San Diego Chargers for the last two seasons, and has reinvented himself as a third-down back, excelling at blocking and catching the ball out of the backfield.

He appeared in 16 games last year and ran for 157 yards and added another 60 yards receiving while scoring one touchdown.

Powell, 26, hasn’t found any reported interest before trying out for Houston either today. However, Powell didn’t play for an NFL team last season.
