The Houston Texans brought in four players for tryouts on Friday including RB Byron Marshall, according to Aaron Wilson.
The full list of tryouts for the Texans includes:
- DB Adonis Alexander
- DB Brian Allen
- RB Tony Brooks-James
- RB Byron Marshall
Marshall, 25, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon back in 2016. However, he waived coming out of the preseason before being signed to their practice squad.
The Redskins signed Marshall off of the Eagles’ practice squad in November of 2017 and he returned to Washington this offseason. After being released at the start of the season, Marshall had a brief stint on the Bills’ practice squad.
In 2018, Marshall appeared in six games for the Redskins and rushed for nine yards on three carries (3.0 YPC) to go along with four receptions for 30 yards receiving and no touchdowns. He also had 114 kickoff return yards.
Alexander, 23, was selected by Washington in the sixth round of last year’s supplemental draft. He signed a four-year rookie deal worth $2.6 million but was waived by the Redskins coming out of the preseason.
Alexander had a brief stint on the Redskins’ practice squad this year.
In 2018, Alexander appeared in nine games for the Redskins and recorded four tackles.
During his three years at Virginia Tech, Alexander recorded 125 tackles, 4.5 tackles for a loss, one sack, seven interceptions, 17 pass defenses, and a forced fumble over the course of 32 games.
