Texans Worked Out Kickers Giorgio Tavecchio & Nick Rose

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Texans worked out kickers Giorgio Tavecchio and Nick Rose on Wednesday.

Tavecchio, 28, originally signed on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of California back in 2012. He was unable to make the team’s 53-man roster and was released at the start of the season.

The Raiders later claimed him off of waivers in 2014 and he’s been on and off of their roster the past few years. Oakland cut him loose as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players, but signed him to the practice squad shortly after.

Tavecchio was promoted to the active roster in September after veteran K Sebastian Janikowski was placed on injured reserve and they brought him back on an exclusive rights contract this offseason but waived him last week.

In 2017, Tavecchio appeared in all 16 games for the Raiders and converted 16 of 21 field goal attempts (76.2 percent) to go along with 33 of 34 extra point attempts.

Rose, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Texans back in 2016. After a brief stint with the 49ers, Rose signed on with the Redskins during the 2017 season.

Washington waived him after two months and he was later claimed by the Chargers and finished out the year in Los Angeles. The Chargers waived him a few months ago and he was claimed off of waivers by the Jets.

Unfortunately, his stay in New York was short-lived, as the Jets waived him a few weeks later.

In 2017, Rose appeared in 10 games and converted 11 of 14 field goal attempts (78.6 percent) to go along with 23 of 26 extra point tries and 32 touchbacks.
