The Chargers Done With Merriman?

Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune writes that the San Diego Chargers could cut LB Shawn Merriman in the coming weeks despite their lack of depth at the line backer position. Acee mentions that the Chargers have had Merriman on the trading block for over a year now and hasn’t garnered enough interest to get a deal done.

Merriman’s career has gone downhill since he tested positive for a banned substance a few years ago. Merriman has struggled to regain his Pro Bowl form and is now considered to be more of a liability than an asset.

It looks like the next few games could be his last shot to prove to the Chargers that he’s worth the roster spot.
