ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports thatย Titans CB Jason McCourty could miss the first three weeks of the season after he recently underwent groin surgery.
McCourty is the team’s No. 1 cornerback, so without him in the lineup, it would really test their on the back end of their defense.
It’s worth mentioning that HCย Ken Whisenhunt said onย Monday that McCourty has a chance to be back for Week 1, but that appeared to be an overly optimistic suggestion.
McCourty, 28, is entering the fourth year of his six-year, $44.26 million contract that includes $17 million guaranteed. He’ll made a base salary of $6.8 million for the 2015 season.
In 2014, McCourty appeared in all 16 games for the Titans and recorded 85 tackles, three interceptions, a fumble recovery for a touchdown, two forced fumbles and 11 pass defenses.
