Jake Locker‘s performance in his first NFL start Friday night was underwhelming to say the least. The second-year quarterback completed 4 of his 11 passes for a mere 21 yards and a interception. However, it appears Locker will be the under center week one.
“Titans coach Mike Munchak said on Sunday he planned to name a starter on Monday,” tweetsย Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean. “According to sources, the Titans have decided on Locker. An official announcement is expected later on Monday at Baptist Sports Park, where the Titans will practice today.”
Locker’s performance Friday night wasn’t bad enough for the Titans coaching staff to give veteran quarterback Matt Hasselbeck another crack at being the teams starting quarterback. While Hasselbeck may be a more accurate passer and a better decision maker, Locker’s athleticism and big arm give the Titans offense a chance to be explosive, something they lacked all of last season. Locker will get another start on Thursday night against the Cardinals and is expected to play into the third quarter.
