Titans Re-Signing CB Tye Smith To One-Year Deal

The Tennessee Titans announced that they are re-signing CB Tye Smith to a one-year deal through the 2019 season.

Smith, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Seahawks back in May of 2015. He was in the second year of his four-year, $2.446 million contract and set to make a base salary of $525,000 for the 2016 season when the Seahawks cut him loose coming out of the preseason.

Seattle later signed him to their practice squad before cutting him loose September of 2016 and was later added to the Redskins’ practice squad a few months later. The Titans claimed him off Washington’s practice squad and signed a futures contract in January of 2017.

He was placed on injured reserve the last offseason and missed the entire 2018 season.

In 2017, Smith appeared in 18 games for the Titans and recorded 18 total tackles, one interception, and one pass defense.
