Mike Klis reports that the Broncos trading FB Andy Janovich to Browns for a seventh-round pick in 2021.
Klis explains that Janovich became expendable in new OC Pat Shurmur’s offense system, which doesn’t use a strict fullback.
Janovich’s 2019 season came to an end after he suffered a dislocated elbow in November.
Janovich, 26, is a former sixth-round pick of the Broncos back in 2016. He was in the final year of his four-year, $2.5 million contract when he and the Broncos agreed to a three-year, $5.7 million extension that includes a signing bonus of $1.35 million and total guarantees of $3.22 million.
According to OverTheCap.com, trading Janovich will free up $568,750 of available cap space while creating $1,012,500 in dead money.
In 2019, Janovich appeared in six games and totaled five catches for 42 yards receiving and one rushing yard and a touchdown.
