Packers Willing To Trade WR James Jones?

Lance Zierlein of the Houston Chronicle reports the that there are rumors “circulating around league circles” that the Green Bay Packers are willing to trade WR James Jones.

Zierlein feels that the Texans should explore a trade for the 28 year old receiver since “he is the type of player who could come in and be a major factor in an offense like this.” Zierlein adds that the Texans need a legitimate wide receiver threat opposite of WR Andre Johnson, as Kevin Walter figures to be that guy as of right now.

For the Packers, the decision to keep Donald Driver makes it likely that they’ll have to release Tori Gurley and Diondre Borel, who they stashed away on their practice squad last season. Trading Jones would at least ensure one of the a roster spot.

The Texans cut WR Jacoby Jones loose, who wound up signing with the Ravens. There’s no question that they could use another receiver, but it’s hard to say that this idea is anything more than speculation at this point in time.

  1. This does not suprise me. However, rumors were swirling that the Pack may use 6 WRs this year, cutting a TE or 2.
