Tua Tagovailoa’s Medical Re-Checks “Overwhelmingly Positive”

According to Mike Garafolo, Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa voluntarily participated in medical rechecks from the original evaluation at the NFL Combine.

An independent doctor selected by the NFL’s team physicians evaluated Tagovailoa and the results “were overwhelmingly positive,” per Garafolo.

This continues the flow of positive medical reports since Tagovailoa first dislocated his hip last fall. The quarterback said this week that he feels like if there were games right now he’d be able to play

“I feel 100 percent,” Tagovailoa said. “I feel like if there was a game today, I’d be able to go out and perform the same way I was able to perform in previous years. I feel as mobile as possible. I feel 100 percent.”

Tagovailoa’s agent, Chris Cabott, told Yahoo Sports earlier this week that Tagovailoa’s doctors have medically cleared him without restrictions.

So far all of Tagovailoa’s medical reports have been positive as he comes back from a dislocated hip that ended his college career. Healthy reports could cement Tagovailoa as a top-five pick and create a bidding war with multiple teams in a potential trade-up scenario. Tagovailoa also had a pre-draft visit scheduled with the Redskins

Tagovailoa, 21, is still expected to be a high first-round pick in this year’s draft, despite the serious hip injury. In fact, many experts believe he’ll still be a top-five pick as long as things check out with his hip.

For his career, Tagovailoa has completed 69.3 percent of his passes for 7,442 yards, 87 touchdowns and 11 interceptions over the course of three seasons and 32 games. He has also rushed for 340 yards and nine touchdowns.

We’ll have more on Tagovailoa as the news is available.
