According to Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press, the Vikings signed three tryout players to contracts following their rookie minicamp this past weekend including Rutgers DB Isaiah Wharton, LSU CB Terrence Alexander and Alabama-Birmingham DE Stacy Keely.
Tomasson mentions that the Vikings believe Wharton could help them with depth at nickel corner, and might even be a replacement if they can’t sign CB Mackensie Alexander to an extension in 2020.
Wharton, 23, started all 48 games he played at Rutgers, but was not taken by a team in the 2019 NFL Draft.
He finished his four-year college career with 196 total tackles, four interceptions, one forced fumble and 31 pass defenses.
