Vikings Expected To Re-Sign Veteran OL Brett Jones

Update:

Chris Tomasson reports that the Vikings are, in fact, expected to re-sign OL Brett Jones as soon as tomorrow.

Chad Graff reports that the Vikings have been in contact with free agent OL Brett Jones and are hoping to re-sign him before Wednesday’s practice squad.

According to Graff, the Vikings never had Jones clear out his locker after they cut him last week.

Jones, 28, was selected in the second round of 2013 CFL draft by the Calgary Stampeders. In just two years with the Stampeders, Jones has won CFL’s Most Outstanding Rookie Award (2013) and the Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman Award (2014).

Jones signed on with the Giants back in 2015 and returned to New York on a one-year restricted deal worth $2.914 million for the 2018 season. The Giants later traded him to the Vikings in August for a seventh-round pick.

The Vikings re-signed Jones this past April to a one-year deal. He was released last week to make room for WR Josh Doctson.

In 2018, Jones appeared in all 14 games for the Vikings and played 191 total snaps.
