Vikings Place G Nick Easton On IR, Sign G Kaleb Johnson

The Minnesota Vikings announced Monday that they’ve signed G Kaleb Johnson to a contract and placed G Nick Easton on injured reserve.

Easton recently underwent surgery to correct a herniated disc in his neck, so this move was expected.

Easton, 26, originally signed on with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out Harvard back in 2015. He was later traded to the 49ers return for a seventh-round pick.

San Francisco elected to trade Easton to the Vikings for LB Gerald Hodges a few months later.

In 2017, Easton appeared in 12 games for the Vikings and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 56 guard out of 78 qualifying players.

Johnson, 25, originally signed on with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Rutgers back in 2015. He spent most of his rookie in Baltimore before he was claimed off of waivers by the Browns.

Johnson had brief stints with the Cardinals and Chiefs before the Bears signed him to a contract last week. Unfortunately, Chicago waived him a few days later.

Johnson has yet to appear in an NFL game.
