Norton, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Lions as an undrafted free agent out of Toledo back in May. He was set to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract when the Lions cut him loose coming out of the preseason.

Norton was been on and off of Lions, Cardinals and Vikings’ practice squads last season. Minnesota signed him to a futures deal and signed him to the taxi squad, once again, at the end of the preseason.

The Vikings promoted him to their active roster in time for Week 8. He will be eligible to re-sign to their practice squad once passing through waivers unclaimed.

During his five-year college career at Toledo, Norton earned first-team All-MAC honors, while also being named to the AP All-Bowl Team.
