Matt Hasselbeck “Strongly Leaning Towards” Playing In 2016

Colts QB Matt Hasselbeck mentioned during an appearance on the “Brock and Salk” show that he’s “strongly leaning towards” returning for his 18th season in the NFL, per Brady Henderson.

The Colts were forced to turn to Hasselbeck with Andrew Luck missing a good portion of the season. Hasselbeck added that it was “a blast to be in the huddle again” after seeing very limited playing time in recent years, per Henderson.

Hasselbeck, 40, is in the line to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, so he could have some options in the coming months after a reasonably productive 2015 season for the Colts.

In 2015, Hasselbeck appeared in eight games and threw for 1,690 yards while completing 60.9 percent of his passes to go along with nine touchdowns and five interceptions. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 24 quarterback out of 37 qualifying players.
