Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune is reporting that the Chicago Bears have signed DT Amobi Okoye to a one-year deal following the Houston Texans decision to release.
Overall this is a good pickup for the Bears as they could use some help with their interior defensive line. Rumors had the Bears as possibilities for Brandon Mebane and Barry Cofield but wound up missing out on both of them.
The Texans wound up releasing him because they didn’t see him fitting into their defensive scheme and we because no one was willing to trade for him. The move is very low risk and there’s a chance that Okoye could end up being a huge asset to their defense.
