Bears Waive Former 2nd-Rd Pick DL Ego Ferguson

The Chicago Bears announced Friday that they’ve placed DL Ego Ferguson on waivers.

The Bears reportedly had Ferguson on the trading block during the preseason last year, but they never found any takers for him.

Chicago elected to waive him with an injury designation at the start of the season and he was later placed on injured reserve after clearing waivers.

Ferguson, 25, was taken in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $4,113,203 contract and stands to make a base salary of $980,892 for the 2017 season.

In 2015, Ferguson appeared in four games for the Bears and recorded just three tackles before he was placed on injured reserve.
