Bruce Arians Says Browns Only HC Job He’d Consider Returning For

Update:

Ian Rapoport says it’s understanding that Bruce Arians’ point was more about pushing Chuck Pagano as a head coach than coming back himself.

On Sunday, CBS analyst Bruce Arians said that the only coaching job he would consider returning for is the Browns.

“Cleveland is the only job I would consider,” Arians said, via CantonRep.com.

As of now, the Browns are the only job head-coaching guaranteed to be available after the season.

The expectation is that they strongly consider an offensive-minded head coach to help develop rookie QB Baker Mayfield and Arians does have extensive experience working with quarterbacks over the years.

However, Arians made the decision to step down as the Cardinals’ head coach after the 2017 season due to concerns about his health.

For what it’s worth, Arians tossed out former Colts HC Chuck Pagano as someone who could also make sense for the Browns.

“My guy would be Chuck Pagano,” Arians said.

Arians, 66, was hired by the Cardinals back in 2013 after he filled in for Colts HC Chuck Pagano while he was fighting cancer and managed to win Coach of the Year. During his five years with the Cardinals, Arians led them to a record of 49-30-1 (61.9 percent), which includes two playoff appearances and a trip to the NFC Championship game in 2015.
